INTRODUCTION TO MULTIMEDIA

Course director: David Dodds: Educational consultant and OFSTED Inspector, specialising in Primary and Middle Schools.

A ‘starter’ course in Multimedia, for beginners and more capable users of Information Technology, and for Head teachers who want to know what the effective use of ICT resources looks like for their school. All Key Stages. Delegates will be sent a self audit prior to the course to ensure a best fit for their needs.

 

SUPPORTING BRITISH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS TO DELIVER EXCELLENT PASTORAL CARE

Course director:Heather Hannan is Director of Hannan Consultancy Ltd (HCL) and has an exceptional track record of delivering bespoke support across the Independent and Statutory sector with regards to Safeguarding and Promoting Pupils’ Welfare and related pastoral care issues. Heather has been Key Note Speaker at a number of recent National Conferences on Education and was a National Consultant with the NSPCC. Heather is also Director of HCL Management Consultancy Services whose clients include, Directors of the newly established Children’s Services (under Children Act 2004), the voluntary sector (eg Barnardos and the NSPCC) and the commercial sector (eg KPMG and Deloitte). SELF EVALUATION AND MONITORING PRACTICE

Course director: David Cousins is a Senior Area Advisor for Buckinghamshire, the highest attaining English Local Education Authority. He has responsibility for school improvement across the southern region for 72 schools across all phases. He brings over 25 years of experience as headteacher, OfSTED school inspector, County Advisor and has strong links to Diocesan and Foundation schools.

He is an expert in school self-evaluation and had led on many very successful self-evaluation courses UK-wide. All Key Stages.

 

MANAGING DAY TO DAY INCLUSION IN THE CLASSROOM

Course director: Chris Onions is an independent chartered educational psychologist but has in the past, worked for many years within the state sector. Trained at the Hester Adrian Research Centre

at the University of Manchester, he originally specialized in working with children with severe learning difficulties but on to develop specialist interests in other areas including dyslexia, dyspraxia and autistic spectrum disorders. He has a professional lifetime’s interest in developing successful, inclusive educational provision and has contributed to the development of materials for Open University courses in this area as well as tutoring these courses. EARLY YEARS & PLAY

Course director: Nick Swarbrick is course leader for the Early Years Sector-Endorsed Foundation Degree and contributes to teaching on the Primary PGCE, where he leads the Early Years Specialism, and on the undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Studies, with a main focus of professional development in the Early Years. He has a developing research and teaching role in how young children explore the outdoors environment. All Key Stages.

 

WHOLE SCHOOL APPROACHES TO SUBJECT COORDINATION

Course director: Peter is a senior lecturer in the Institute and teaches Professional Studies and History on primary U/G and PG programmes. He is responsible for the co-ordination of the humanities and is the tutor for history education. He has run many LEA programmes in this area including GEST courses for practising teachers in the 1990s.He also teaches on MA programmes and is the Institute Liaison Manager for Classroom Support which runs at Solihull, Abingdon-Witney and Aylesbury Colleges. MA IN EDUCATION

Course director: Phil Whitehead is an Academic Group Head at the Westminster Institute. Formerly a primary headteacher, local authority adviser, OfSTED trained inspector and primary teacher with 20 years + experience; Phil has been at the University since 1998. He has worked abroad as an EFL teacher, visiting writer and consultant/trainer in schools in South East Asia and throughout Europe. He has a particular interest in arts based practitioner research, creativity and learning and in children’s writing – his current doctoral research area. All Key Stages.

The Cost of the Conference

The fee for the Conference is € 320 for COBIS school members € 420 for non-COBIS attendees.

The fee includes all meals as well as a dinner cruise.

It is the responsibility of the delegate to make his or her own hotel arrangements. See attached hotel list:

Conference Dinner and Boat Trip:

On the Saturday we have reserved a boat to take you on a trip through Amsterdam. During this trip a buffet dinner will be served onboard. This is the most interesting way to see all of Amsterdam without getting tired and while enjoying dinner. A full bar is available for you to purchase drinks.

 

Sights of Amsterdam

Sunday is a day off. We will provide information and folders at the Conference about the wide variety of museums, galleries and places of interest you might want to visit during this day.
