Established in 1977, The British International School of Stavanger in South West Norway is an independent non-profit making foundiation administered by a board of Governors.

It is situated approximately 8 kilometres south of Stavanger overlooking Gandsfjord.

The school is modern and complies strictly with the design and safety requirements of the Norwegian authorities. In all, there are 24 classrooms, smaller rooms for group work and special rooms for special education, art, music, science, French and 2 computer rooms.

There is a fully equipped and spacious gymnasium as well as a woodwork room, assembly hall and extensive libraries with a computer indexing system.

The principal educational aim of the school is to meet the needs and expectations of parents wishing to have their children educated in an English school by providing them with the more traditional aspects of a proven British education. This not only covers the requirements of National Curriculum, but also those of Common Entrance levels. This ensures that when the time comes they will be able to transfer to British Curriculum schools either in Independent or State sectors, or to local Norwegian schools.

The Principal puts great emphasis on developing the individual qualities and talents of the children at The British International School of Stavanger following a policy of encouraging children to have confidence in their own abilities and to develop a caring attitude towards others.
