The Magyar-British International School is a National Curriculum School offering education to students between the ages of 2½ and 19. It is a school established in 1992 with 18 pupils, and now boasts 370 children from 45 nations. 25% of our population is Hungarian, and 25% is British.

We celebrate our diversity of culture, religion and race, and take pride in the caring and family-like atmosphere that continues to be a strength of our school. The school achieves very good grades at the Year 2, 6 and 14 standardized British tests, and presents its first pupils for G.C.S.E. this year.

This year marked our right to offer the International Baccalaureate. A team of OFSTED Inspectors deemed our school to be "a good school" in October 1998. I do believe that the quality of teaching and the experiences available to our children have led to the very quick growth M.B.I.S. has experienced and its reputation in the community.

We actively work with local schools to learn from them and to provide aspects of our activities which we can share. We offer Hungarian language to any pupils who wish to learn it within our school. Other languages available are French, German, Russian, and from September 2000, Spanish.

Our growth has necessitated the search for new premises, and M.B.I.S. will now start its new academic year of September 2001 in new purpose-built school buildings on one site. This has added to our sense of excitement and achievement.

Our first eight years detail a record of strong academic achievement and sustained growth, and we hope a response to a need in the community for a school to provide quality British education.
