St Paul's British Primary School, founded in 1975, is a small
school dedicated to meeting the individual needs of 3-9 year
olds. The school enjoys a semi-rural setting in Vossem, in the
beautiful Commune of Tervuren, on the east of Brussels. The
school comprises two secure and welcoming buildings, providing a
caring, family centred environment for young children and their
families.
We follow the UK National Curriculum and include the Literacy
and Numeracy Strategy in our daily teaching. In the Foundation
Stage (Reception and Nursery) we follow the UK 'Early Learning
Goals'. In addition, we take full advantage of the many
wonderful opportunities that living in the heart of Europe
brings.
The emphasis at St Paul's British Primary School is on providing
'The Best Possible Start in Life'. Young children settling into
a new country or going to school for the first time, enjoy an
excellent start to their educational life.
St Paul's British Primary School is now associated with St.
Paul's Anglican Church, Tervuren, which strongly supports the
aim of the school to provide the best possible start in life. We
welcome children of all nationalities, cultures and faiths.
The school population has 60% of pupils with English as their
mother tongue and over 15 nationalities are represented. |
Children may enter Nursery classes from the age of 2 1/2. Both
part time and full time places are available. Underlying our
Early Years activities is an emphasis on developing self-esteem,
confidence, respect for others and independence, building a
sound foundation for Primary Education. The staff pupil ratio
is 1:8.
In Key Stage 1, the maximum staff/pupil ration is 1:16.
Specialist teachers for English as an Additional Language (EAL)
and Special Educational Needs (SEN) are available in school.
French, Music, PE and Library Skills are taught by specialist
staff. ICT is used extensively across the curriculum, enabling
children to extend and enhance both their academic subjects
and pastoral learning using the most up to date technology
St Paul's British Primary School has an outstanding record for
high levels of achievement. Children in Year 2 take the SATs
tests with excellent results.
Parents and teachers enjoy a close relationship fostered by an
open-door approach. The active Parents Association works hard
to ensure close links between teachers and parents on all non-educational
aspects of school life and to help new families settle into
the community. |
